How LandaVan works

What do I need to join LandaVan?

There are just two requirements to become a LandaVanner:

  • You must have an self-contained caravan or RV
  • You must have a property (we call it Homebase) with a site that you are willing to let others stay at

What is a Homebase?

Your Homebase is the home your caravan or RV stays in when you’re not travelling, and the place that LandaVanners can book to stay at when you’re away. It should be large enough for a caravan with open awning but if it’s not, please make an undercover area available for use.

Can I offer vacant land as my Homebase?

Vacant land can be a really good Homebase provided that the site is clearly marked, has good access and is safe.

Can I join if I have a camper trailer or rooftop tent?

Right now we only cater for self-contained caravans and RVs but we plan to offer this option once we have enough suitable properties.

How do I book a stay?

How to book on LandaVan

  • Log into your LandaVan account
  • Find the Homebase that you’d like to stay at
  • Make sure it’s the right site for you
  • Select dates of the booking
  • Check you have enough Stay Points
  • Make the booking and receive confirmation
  • Enjoy your stay!

Before you book

Can I camp with kids?

We encourage everyone to allow children to stay but some properties are just not suitable for kids. If you’re not sure, it’s always best to contact the Host first.

Can I bring my pet?

We love our pets but it’s up to the host to decide if their property is suitable. If you’re not sure, it’s always best to contact the Host first.

Stay Points

How do Stay Points work?

Stay Points are our way of rewarding LandaVanners who make their approved Homebase available and host other members. Please note that properties that are not approved are not eligible to earn Stay Points.

You earn Stay Points when you host a stay or make your approved property available to LandaVanners.

  • Available - Earn 20 points for every night your approved property is available.
  • Booked - Earn 200 points for every night your Homebase is booked.

You can earn either the Available fee or the Booked fee - not both.

What if I don't have enough Stay Points?

You can only make a booking if you have enough Stay Points for the booking. That's 200 points per night of your stay. If you don't have enough points you can shorten your stay or wait to make your booking once you've accumulated enough points.

Why I cannot see my points from future guest bookings?

Points from future bookings are not included in your total points balance. The pending points for upcoming reservations can be found on your account dashboard. Our system processes and allocates points every night, taking into account whether your property is booked or available.

How can I get extra Stay Points?

We'll give you 600 Stay Points when you sign up, complete your profile and become a member. From time to time, we'll give away bonus Stay Points as prizes.

What about cancellations?

If a guest cancels before the booking starts, we'll return the points they would have spent on your stay, back to them. If they cancel after the booking starts (whether or not they have arrived), we'll transfer the Stay Points you would have received up to the day of cancellation, to you. Any unused amount will be returned to them.

Can I trade my Stay Points?

No. Stay Points are not transferrable and cannot be traded to another party.

Do my Stay Points expire?

No. You can accumulate as many Stay Points as you like and they will never expire.

What happens if there is a dispute?

We'll make our best efforts to be fair and just but the decision of the administrator is final. We will not compensate any member for the loss of Stay Points or if you are unable to use your Stay Points when you wish.
